The proposed Glenora Wind Farm development site is located to the south of Maumakeogh Mountain approximately 7km southwest of Ballycastle and 6km southeast of Belderrig. The study area for the project comprises lands predominantly under commercial forestry within Glenora, Keerglen, Ballykinlettragh, Altderg and Lugnalettin townlands and measures approximately 1,290 hectares. The site is accessible from the R314 to the northwest of Ballycastle via a local road and existing forestry roads/tracks.
The majority of the proposed development site is currently used for commercial forestry. This will continue alongside the proposed renewable energy development once constructed.
